Microsoft Silicon Valley Campus, Server Design Center – Mountain View, CA

project description
Rivera Consulting Group provided complete structural engineering services to create a new Server Design Center (SDC) for Microsoft at their Technology Center campus in Mountain View, CA. The new 20,000 sf center was created within Building 1, a two-story steel framed structure. The central feature of the SDC is a two story glass enclosure housing state of the art servers, wrapped on two sides by a circulation stair. The center includes meeting, assembly and support areas. RCG developed an alteration strategy to minimize cost of construction by retaining of a section of the 2nd Floor for the SDC glass enclosure. Design efforts included structural steel support framing at the 2nd Floor, glass support design, complete stair and guardrail design as well as alterations to surrounding areas.
